About Kalakrit Translations

Legal translation, built around the way law firms work.

We translate for Indian law firms and legal teams. Our legal translators work with AI built for legal language and review every translation, in all Indian languages and major foreign languages, with sworn affidavits for court filings and overnight turnaround when a deadline demands it.

Why we built it this way

Legal translation fails in two directions.

A vendor that is fast misses the clause that mattered. A vendor that is careful misses the hearing. Firms end up holding two vendors and choosing between them under pressure, usually at nine in the evening.

We built AI specifically for legal language so the first draft arrives with defined terms, citations and document structure intact, and we kept legal translators in charge of every translation that leaves. The AI buys back the hours. The translator is still the one answerable for the text.

What we hold ourselves to

Four commitments, and nothing beyond them

A legal translator reviews every translation

Not a sample, not the difficult ones. Every translation, before it reaches you.

Sworn affidavits where documents are filed

For Indian courts, and officially sworn translators for foreign-language documents where that is what the receiving authority requires.

Overnight and weekend turnaround

Because court deadlines do not move, and we will say plainly when one cannot be met.

Files deleted after delivery

And no discussion of any client's matters, documents or volumes, with anyone.

Clients

Trusted by leading Indian law firms

  • JSA
  • King Stubb & Kasiva
  • Argus Partners

We name firms that have cleared their names and logos for use. We do not discuss any client's matters, documents or volumes.

A note from the founder

On accuracy and discretion

Legal translation is read the way lawyers read contracts, which is to say adversarially and with the benefit of hindsight. A translation is judged after something has gone wrong, not before.

So the standard we work to is not whether a translation reads well. It is whether it would hold if the other side put it under a microscope, and whether we would be comfortable explaining every decision in it.

That is also why we are careful about what we claim. We will tell you that a legal translator reviewed every line, that we provide sworn affidavits for Indian court filings, and that files are deleted after delivery. We will not tell you that a translation is guaranteed to be accepted by a court, because that is not ours to promise.
